Policies
CLUB MANAGEMENT/MEMBERS CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
Mawson Boat Club operates in accordance to the CONSTITUTION of the Mawson Boat Club Inc.
The club is run by a management committee with officers including; President, Secretary and Treasurer

The Head Coach and Club Captain/Coach share responsibility for the design and management of the Club’s Risk Assessment Plan, Social Media Policy, Code of Conduct, Child Safe Environment and Rower Management as well as designing and implementing training and coaching programs.

Safe responsible behaviour in and around the Boat Shed; as well as on the water is an expectation of all members for all members.

Where a breach of the behaviour code is observed and immediate action needs to be taken by the coaches, Head Coach or Club Captain will initiate respectful and appropriate discussion. Follow up support will be available to all members of the club.

In response to incident reports appropriate communication of all relevant parties is required for a positive outcome to properly discuss and assess situations and circumstances fairly with a just outcome for all.

Meeting the Club’s expectations and adhering to the Member’s Code of Behaviour is essential to maintaining safety for all rowers, the wellbeing of our membership and the club’s future prospects.

Concerns regarding breaches of the Member’s Code of Behaviour need to be documented and forwarded to the Head Coach and the Club Management Committee via the Club’s Boat Captain which will then be considered in accordance with the Mawson Boat Club Inc. Constitution.
GOOD COMMUNICATION & EXPECTATIONS OF ALL OUR MEMBERS

To help create a positive friendly club environment for all members and guests; members are expected to contribute cheerfully to a collaborative relationship developing good communication skills with all rowers and coaches

To properly prepare for training and regattas arriving at scheduled times, members will need to: Advise the coaches prior to planned absences, wear appropriate attire, be safety consciousness at practise, being punctual and present with a positive attitude

Respect and support for all involved in the sport - Coaches, rowers, parents and supporters

Acceptance and adherence of Coach’s and Boat Captain’s instructions

Careful Boat and oar management and respect for all MBC equipment and facilities

Adhere to the Sir Douglas Mawson Lake boat direction and movement rules

Positive acceptance of Mawson Boat Club Mission, Leadership, Direction, Strategy and Action Plans
EXPECTATIONS OF COMPETITIVE ROWERS

Regular attendance and positive participation at training and regattas

To maintain positive and respectful training relationships with coaches and fellow rowers
-
Maintain clear communications with coaches regarding training and leading up to regattas
-
Advise the Head coach and crew coach of any problems, personal injury or damage to equipment
-
Respectful acceptance of Coaches decisions regarding selection of crews for races
-
Pursuit of excellence and high-level skills acquisition at training and at competition regattas
-
Reflect on learning methodology and achievements and to accept feedback respectfully
-
Always endeavour to do one’s best as an individual and as a team member

Responsibly represent Mawson Boat Club at public events and rowing regattas
